ILO Chest X-ray B Reader Reporting Now Available

We are delighted to announce that Dr Ian Cappe is one of only thirteen Radiologists in Australia who have successfully completed the NIOSH B Reader examination; thereby becoming the only radiologist within NSW certified to classify chest X-rays for the identification of pneumoconioses using the International Labour Office (ILO) Classification system. Coal workers are at risk of developing pneumoconiosis from the cumulative inhalation of respirable coal mine dust over several years. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has been pursing means to facilitate and standardize the evaluation of Chest images with ILO Classification. MRI comes to Ballina

North Coast Radiology Group is continuing to expand its services with the introduction of MRI services from our Ballina branch. Installed in late 2014, the 1.5T MRI machine will enable us to support patients with their non-medicare eligible examinations. Generally, these are examinations which are requested by GP's or Allied Health for which no medicare rebate is available. North Coast Radiology has joined Clarence Valley Imaging in migrating to no film - unless specifically requested. This has evolved for a number of reasons including environmental, uptake in technology by practitioners, storage problems for practices and patients alike not to mention the challenges in disposing of film.
