Screening Questions
1. Clinical Criteria
- Do you currently have any symptoms of a cold or flu such as Fever, Sore throat, Cough, Shortness of breath or
- has your GP or Doctor indicated that you may have Pneumonia or a chest infection?
2. Epidemiological Criteria
- Have you visited a Covid Hotspot or returned from international travel in the past 14 days or
had close or casual contact with a person in the past 14 days who has tested positive or suspected of Covid-19.
3. Are you a healthcare worker with an acute respiratory infection (eg. shortness of breath, cough, sore throat) with a fever greater than 38 degrees or have you recently had a fever (eg. night sweats, chills)?
If YES to 1, 2 or 3 we can perform the examination (Mammogram excluded), but appointment will be marked Infectious, patient to wear surgical mask, they will wait in designated area and PPE protocols to be followed.
If you have been referred for steroid injection therapy for pain management, an anti-inflammatory drug, known as a corticosteroid, is injected to the affected area. This may improve inflammation but can also reduce your body’s immune system. Although there is no current evidence, this may reduce the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccination, to avoid any potential risk the current recommendations are that steroid is not administered for two weeks prior to the COVID-19 vaccination or within 1 week after the vaccination. You can still have the steroid injection within that period but will be asked to sign a consent form before receiving the steroid injection.
